For whatever reason I lost interest.  Gonna try this again. :-)

I spent much of the spring very involved in the Hillary Clinton campaign in Pennsylvania.  Now that she has suspended her campaign I am supporting Barack Obama.

I have participated in a couple voter registration drives for Obama and look forward to more.  For the most part, the Obama crowd has been welcoming.  To my fellow Hillary supporters considering not voting or voting for John McCain, here are some good reasons not to:

  • John McCain voted to filibuster minimum wage incresases.
  • Corporate special interests helped form John McCain’s economic policies.
  • McCain says it would be “fine” to keep troops in Iraq for “a hundred years”.
  • McCain supported Bush’s Veto of a childrens health insurance bill.
  • George Bush and John McCain opposed the expanded GI Bill.  (it passed anyway
  • Many women voters think McCain is pro-choice, they should do some research.
  • McCain defends Bush’s Iraq strategy.

John McCain = more of the same.

I’ve always enjoyed reading overheardinnewyork.com. Today I overheard something at breakfast this morning which I felt compelled to submit. Read on…

“Hey brother, can I ask you something - what is ‘text messaging’?”

“You don’t know what that is?”

“No… I was at this club the other night and this fly young ho gave me digits and asked me to ‘text’ her.”

“Damn brother, you’re gonna have to get your nephew to teach you texting. It’s almost like email but on your cellphone. It has reply (now or later), forward (if you wanna send it on to a brother)”

“I guess. I never heard of it before”

“Yeah nig**r, if you wanna kick it with these young bitches you gotta learn to text”

“How times have changed”

“I know it brother… next thing they’re gonna be textin’ you in bed. Text you their moans and shit. It is going to be the downfall of making love.”

Making “love” with their “young bitches”?

I’m loving this Mae West Quote:

Admittedly I’m not such a big fan of Microsoft, but I use MSN Messenger for work so…

Every time you start a conversation using i’m, Microsoft shares a portion of the program’s advertising revenue with some of the world’s most effective organizations dedicated to social causes.

I chose the National AIDS Fund, but you can choose the one that best addresses the issues you feel most passionate about.

The available groups (as of this writing) are:

  • American Red Cross
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of America
  • National AIDS Fund
  • National MS Society
  • ninemillion.org
  • Sierra Club
  • StopGlobalWarming.org
  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure
  • U.S. Fund for UNICEF
